STAV WINS #2
Xavs take back-to-back Woodrows

The torch has been passed. One era ends, and another begins.
After eight years, Matthew Cosgrave has vacated the chair and Michael Logan has been elected unanimously by the members as the Old Xaverians Football Club’s 26th President. Former Presidents Robert Ralph (21), Simon Hunt (24) and Bill Denton (25) were on hand to welcome Logan.
This was the major outcome of the club’s 105th Annual General Meeting held last night at Toorak Park.
The Logan era begins at a time when the club is in a strong position, with playing numbers at an all-time high, healthy finances and the new facilities at Toorak Park promising increased enjoyment for players and spectators alike.
This strength has been the result of many years of hard slog by the club’s executive, committee, volunteers, coaches and players. Matthew Cosgrave has been very much a leader and a driver of this since he joined the club’s board in 2008. That service has already been recognised with his elevation to Life Membership earlier this year.
Logan is well aware of the workings and traditions of the club, having been a servant of the club and a strong financial contributor for nearly 40 years.
Michael ‘Chopper’ Logan was Xavier College Captain in 1986, and began as a player in the U19s in 1987, winning both a premiership and the Best and Fairest. He debuted in the Seniors the following year but was cut down by an ACL injury. He continued playing, injuries and travel aside, until 1996. He played in the Reserves premiership in 1995.
Michael served as club Treasurer in 1989, worked on the committee from the mid-90s until 2003, serving at various stages as VP and Football Director, and was awarded the William Denton Sr Trophy for conspicuous service to the club in 2002.
He spent 30 years at NAB, predominantly in leadership roles in their Corporate & Institutional client coverage teams. He recently joined boutique debt advisor, Aberdeen Capital, as Executive Director. He is renowned for being a skilled relationship builder and a strong, trustworthy negotiator.
Michael and his wife, Libby Priddle, longtime financial members of the OXFC, have a daughter, Meg and a son, Ted, who played this season with Paul Connors’ U23 team. He claims to be a poor golfer and an average surfer, but enjoys both pastimes.
Logan will occupy the chair in the plush confines of the committee room flanked by a team that is a blend of experience and promise.
Matt Hannebery and Damian Berry will remain as Vice Presidents, and Marina Stevenson as the world’s best Treasurer. Also returning are Matthew Ball, Andy Barrett, Joe Tobin, Ben Coughlan, Dan Pasquariello, and James Woods, who will share General Manager duties with Pat Stevenson.
They will be joined by newcomers Tina Scalzo, Dimitri Panotis and Joe Cowell, with Life Member James Lowe also returning.

Nick Hulett, Paul Lefebvre, Rachel Dunne, Chloe Psyhogios and Matt Cosgrave have stepped down from committee duties, but will continue to play important roles in the life of the club. Members thanked these stalwarts for the great an important service over various durations.
The meeting also noted the significant contributions of club Life Members and stalwarts Peter Rhoden and David Burnes, who have passed away since the 2024 AGM.
