TOORAK PARK TREBLE
Another big day at home
The Old Xavs Women completed their home game schedule yesterday at Xavier, taking it right to a powerful Fitzroy team all the way, but going down by a paltry 9 points.
A month ago, the clash between the same two teams resulted in a thirteen goal victory to the Lions, but the Xavs, short on numbers but tall in spirit, have kept improving.
Coach Young commented:
Our girls fought out a very tough, contested game. They took another step up to match it with a team that has played for many years. One can't underestimate the value that experience gave them in a game like that.
They beat us by 85 points only four games ago, so to reduce the margin to 9 points is an extraordinary effort. It was disappointing to have Milli sustain such a serious injury, but I can't say enough about how positive she has been - even asking when pre-season starts! Love it!
We have one week remaining this year, so I am asking the girls to stay determined and make another step forward. We want to finish strongly against Old Trinity, who beat us in our first Premier section encounter. How much have we improved? We will know on Saturday!
