U19 PREMIER: BELL BLASTS BEAUMARIS

Harrison Bell had a holiday as he slammed through eleven goals in a masterful display. The rookie was backed by a strong team of performers and the Sharks had no answers.

The Red 'n Blacks had eleven players who split the big sticks, while home team could manage just four majors on the afternoon.

Dan Tuddenham kicked three goals, while Darcy Feutrill put in a strong showing. All in all, it was an encouraging and decisive performance from Dan Rush's tea

U19 RESSIES HAMMER HAILEYBURY

Batten's Boys made it two on the trot as they spanked the Bloods at Princes Park. It was a strong team performance that underlined the strength of this year's junior program.

Coach Andy Batten made the following observations:

  • Great application from the boys to back up a good win last week with a win over Old Haileybury who had a big win in round 1
  • Excellent defensive effort: Defended well as a unit after our full back (Brodie Coen) went down early with a broken wrist. Particular standouts were Tom Lowe, Jacob Jones and Connor Dunne
  • Forward line was brilliantly marshalled by a couple of players: Pat Gaffney, who reminded me very quickly why he should play forward at all times, taking several strong marks on a lead when we needed a target, and Matt Exell who bagged three goals which was a great reward for effort
  • A final mention to Liam Fitzpatrick. who finished off one of the great team goals (possibly goal of the season) as we linked up from the back pocket with several marks, hand balls and kicks to lead.

Goal Kickers: M. Exell 3, D. Fitzgerald 2, P. Gaffney 2, P. Prowse, L. Fitzpatrick, R. Calvert, T. Power
Best Players: T. Lowe, P. Gaffney, M. Salvatore, M. Exell, S. Murray, J. Jones

THREES SINK SHARKS

Six goals from Tom "Larry" Donohue and a sound team effort saw the Threes win again. It was a spirited performance from the Red 'n Blacks, who led from start to finish. Ten chimed in with majors to keep the X Men unbeaten.
