A very consistent Menages overcame some early pressure from St Kevin's to run out comfortable 31-point victors on Opening Day.

Josh "Tooka" Hanger lead the way for the Claret and Stout with four goals, but it was the consistent team effort that thrilled coach Paddy Myers.

The Xavs led at every change and SKOB's only winning quarter on the scoreboard was the third, where it shaded the Red and Blacks by a solitary behind.

Still, the old rivals will meet again and there is much work yet to be done to ensure the strong results keep coming.

Coach's comments:

  • It was a fantastic result for the Menages, featuring 8 debutants as well as a handful of players returning from a year off.
  • We were well served everywhere, especially in the midfield by Bosnar and Preece.
  • Our backline withheld a sustained challenged from SKOBs in the 3rd quarter thanks to Harry Sleeman's customary intercept marks.
