Steve "The Champ" Curtain was a mercurial, high-flying forward who remains the only Old Xavs to kick 100 goals in a season of senior football. He reached three figures in the 1980 season and played in the Xavs' B Section premiership side. He went on to further glory in 1981, when he starred in the club's first a Section premiership. Curtain was capable of infuriating opponents with a combination of skill and nonchalance and was one of the nightmare assignments for opposing defenders. Strong in the air and a great kick. he was club captain in 1983 and 1984.
