WOX 2024 COACHES

Jez to lead for third season

February 27, 2024

The OXFC is pleased to announce WOX head coach Jeremy Sutcliffe is continuing for the 2024 season and has put together a new team of assistants.

Returning from the 2023 season are Sarah Anderson and Alyssa Privitelli. Sarah is currently still playing while assisting with coaching duties and Alyssa enters her second year as a coach after finishing her playing career pre-Covid. Sarah and Alyssa have been a great support for Jez and have put in a lot of work to help strengthen the women's program, while also ensuring the players are enjoying their Old Xavs experience.

Joining the coaching group this year are former men's players Seb Knox and Nick Lefebvre. Seb and Nick both played at the club through the U19 program and more recently played with the Menages. Seb was part of the 2023 Thirds Division 1 Premiership side, and now turns his skills to coaching. Seb and Nick haven't missed a beat, stepping right into the coaching role with ease.

"The club is thrilled to have Jez leading our women's program for the third season. He has done a tremendous job through a transition period for the club and the respect and admiration he has from the playing group is fantastic to see," President Matt Cosgrave said.

"Together, with the support of current and past players as assistants, the playing group is in great hands. We have always found that Old Xavs people sticking around to give back is a great recipe for success," he said.

Numbers at pre-season training have been fantastic so far. Jez and Football Director Gabby Seymour have done a great job engaging with schools over the past 12 months, which has seen an increase in younger players.

Through our connection with Genazzano, the WOX are now training there on Monday nights from 6:30pm. They train at Xavier College on Thursdays from 6:30pm.

We are always on the lookout for players and helpers, as we aim to build back to a second team for the WOX.

Practice matches are being finalised at the moment. We have locked in Old Camberwell at Gordon Barnard Reserve on Saturday April 6. Further details will be released when available.

Season fixtures are yet to be released by the VAFA, but should be made available in the coming weeks. Our Women will compete in Women's Division 1 for the 2024 season.

If you are interested in getting involved, please reach out to Jeremy on 0422 658 797 or James Woods on 0423 839 734.
