The Crocodiles beat the Thirds by 36 points in the all-important second semi-final at DW Lucas Field yesterday.
It was the second time that the Lime Hose had beaten the Threes this season, and the comprehensive result propels the Reps into yet another Grand Final. The Diles are the club's most successful team over the years, and have won 24 premierships and there will be confidence among the Crocs fraternity that they can win their 25th.
Sam Stynes booted four and was best for the Green Sox, while Connor spears booted thee and was high in the best list for Matt Bourke's team.
The Thirds began the day well enough, leading at quarter-time and again at the loong break, but in the second half, the Crocs booted 8.5 to 1.3 to seal the deal.
The Thirds will lick their wounds before a do-or-die struggle with Old Trinity, who ended AJAX's season today.
A few weeks ago, the Red 'n' Blacks needed a huge last quarter to defeat the Tonners. This time around, they finished strongly again, but it was merely building on the increasing momentum. Xavs led by 11 points at the half, 25 at the lemons and at the final siren by an impressive 41, and the Glocks are next to play in the big one.
Will Stevens was at his best, leading a team that has really caught fire over the last month. Frankie O'Callaghan booted four in another ominous display and Will Exell landed three. overall, it was another splendid performance from a team hell-bent on taking the flag.
Brighton play Uni Blacks in the Preliminary Final next week after beating St Kevin's on the King. The X-Men will be ready for either opponent.
It was heartbreak for the T-Birds as OMs kicked the winning goal minutes fro the end to send Matt Tyrell's boys to an early summer. Thee Red 'n' Blacks held sway through the first three terms, but could not finish off the Men of Harlech. In the last term, Xavs could manage 1.1, while somehow, the Dark Blues found 2.4, which was enough to get them through.
It was another great year for the T-Birds, though a disappointing end.
