ONEs, TWOs WIN BIG
U19s down as the minor round ends
The Premier Thirds broke the AJAX resistance in the final term to win the premiership at Elsternwick Park. Matthew Bourke's team completed their succcessful season in the best way possible with a stunning finish that snuffed out the Jackers' flame.
The Red 'n' Blacks began well with four first term goals, but the underdogs hit back in the second to trail by just 5 points. After the half, it was a different story. The X-Men added another four goals in the third, outpacing AJAX to lead by 20 points at the lemons, which replicated the margin at the first change. The Jackers, if their second term was any indication, were in striking distance.
AJAX, who had lost the second semi final, but beaten the Xavs earlier in the year, made things interesting with the first goal to bring it into a 14 point margin. Then, with 19 minutes remaining, the Claret and Stout smashed their way to a seven goal burst without response. The shell-shocked Jackers added two minor scores late, but the X-Men wo it by 55 points.
Will MacIsaac won the medal for BOG with six goals.
