INDUCTED

Trio officially honoured.

Yesterday, three individuals were officially recognised for their outstanding service to the Old Xaverians Football Club.

The late Des Kennedy, Paul Connors and Matt Cosgrave officially became the 73rd, 74th and 75th Life Members of the OXFC after their elevations were announced last September.

Over 170 packed the function room at Toorak Park to learn more about their contributions and hear stories and special moments for the three recipients.

Des Kennedy’s award was received by his son Michael. Club legend Jack Bowen spoke highly of Des’ contribution to the football club as captain in the 1930s and his important role in the re-establishment of the club after WWII.

Paul Connors’ influence as a player and committeeman has been lengthy and these days, he steers the Thirds “village” program.  Current Premier Thirds coach Matt Bourke spoke about Connors and presented him with his award.

Current Vice-President Matt Hannebery presented our immediate past president Matt Cosgrave with his award. Cosgrave's impact on our club has been enormous as a committeman, vice president and president and he is still much involved in club initiatives.

Thank you to everyone who helped to celebrate a special day for three club heroes and their families.

See here for more detailed information about the trio.
