In response to the ever-increasing number of women at our club and their thirst for more competitive sport, the OXFC Netball program commenced in July 2019. Backed by sponsorship from Anderson Construction and East Malvern Community Bank, five teams of Xavs have taken to the Orrong Romanis courts in Molesworth Street, Prahran, for the club’s first foray into this sport.

The teams play on Tuesday and Wednesday nights, and this first season will conclude in November 2019.

Round 4

Section 1 - Won 43-10

OX 1 really found their rhythm this week, with our defensive trio almost impenetrable.

Section 2 - OX White 31 d OX Red 15

Derby No 2 - White took the win in a comprehensive team effort. It is good to have all players back from their European holiday. They are definitely the tannest team in the competition.

Demi McLaren for the Reds worked hard and kept her team on the scoreboard.

OX Black: Lost  8-25

With key defenders missing this week, the Blacks faced a tough task against an experienced team. The pace through the midcourt helped move the ball into attack but our shooters had difficulty converting goals. A strong fourth quarter helped to close the scoring gap slightly but in the end we were outplayed.

Section 3

OX 3: Lost 8-25

A solid game from our girls. The standard in Section 3 is high and is proving difficult for a new team who have not played together, some players are new to netball and others are returning from their junior days. But there has been a marked improvement each week and it is pleasing to see that the girls are smiling on court. One of our recruits, Genevieve Kaine, a Xavier EYC teacher played a great game in WD.
