A XAVIER MATE FOR BILLY GOWERS AT THE SCRAY
Exciting midfielder Bailey Smith was a strong performer in this first Xavier’s First XVIII, but he’ll be swapping the Red and Black for Red, White and Blue in 2019.
Tonight, he was drafted at 7th overall by the Western Bulldogs at the NAB AFL Draft. The dynamic Smith, who captained Sandringham Dragons and the XC team, was also a listed player with the Old Xaverians this season.
He stands 186 cm (just under 6’1” in the old) and weighs in around 82kg. He is a high possession midfielder who can win the hard one, accelerate through traffic and hit a teammate with neat disposal.
We wish Bailey and his family all the best in their new AFL adventure. He’s always welcome at Toorak Park.
Other Xavier alumni are likely to find AFL homes in Day 2 of the AFL draft tomorrow.
