There is a range of membership categories so you are sure to find one that suits you. Click on the Membership button in the menu above to view the categories, and we thank you for your support.
Club Umpires Needed
The VAFA requires all clubs who have a team in Premier to Premier “C” to provide at least one (1) umpire to enter the “Pool” of independent club umpires who will umpire reserves and thirds throughout these sections during the season and be paid $80 (Tax Free) per game by the VAFA. These club umpires will not umpire their own club but can select which match they would like to umpire in conjunction with Brian Goodman General Manager – Umpire Operations.. This has worked very successfully for the past 3 seasons and the VAFA Board is extremely happy with how it has been operating and the support given by the clubs to make this as successful as possible.
Golf Day A Great Day
The second OXFC Golf Day was played yesterday at Riversdale Golf Club. The course was magnificent, the weather was kind, and the golf was excellent, good, okay, and pretty ordinary!
The defending champions, Jack Bowen, Ray Ball, Ted Woodruff, and Andrew Oswald couldn't find last year's form and passed on the John Sander's Trophy to Barry Armstrong, David Stean, Rob Malone, and Michael Hardman.
There was plenty of excitement on the Par 3 3rd hole where a Toyota Yaris, courtesy of Berwick Toyota, was on offer for anyone who could hit the perfect shot. Lucky for Ross Freer and Johno Hardwick there were no aces!
Special thanks to Jack Bowen who kindly sponsored the drinks cart, Nick Smith from The House of Golf for coordinating the day, and of course we have to thank all those who sponsored the day.
Tribute - Stan Smith
All at the Old Xavs have been saddened by the news that Lachie Smith's Grandfather Stan Smith passed away recently. Stan made a habit of supporting Lachie at the games, and our thoughts are with Lachie and his family.
Crocs Preseason
Crocs 2012 Pre-season is kicking off on Wednesday 18 January at the Tan @ 6.30pm. Running session followed by ball work on Gosch’s Paddock. All current and new players are encouraged to attend. Meeting point at bottom of Anderson Street Hill. Please call Duncan Parry (0438 189 868), Andrew Barrett (0403 676 019) or Roo Nolen (0402 022 290) for any further information.
After the disappointment of the 2011 Crocs finals campaign, the Crocs are looking to restructure their coaching panel and are currently seeking nominations for Head Coach in 2012. The Crocs are far and away the most successful team in the VAFA Club XVIII competition, with a record that is the envy of all clubs, playing in 18 of the past 19 grand finals for a return of 15 flags! For your opportunity to take the helm of this established group of talented players please contact the club on admin@oldxavs.com.au
