Club State Representatives
On the Queen’s Birthday long weekend just gone the traditional State games were played and number of Old Xaverian players were selected to represent the ‘Big V’.
On Sunday morning the VAFA Under 19 side took on the VCFL side and came away with an impress win. The crowd was full of AFL scouts and in an impressive performance, team co-Captain Dan Noonan won the President’s Medal for best on ground. Dan was outstanding all afternoon holding together a solid defence with poise, strength and long kicking to position - Dan pictured below on the right.
Brendan Goss played up forward and was clever and effective around the sticks all day and kicked goals when needed.
Jack Stean looked classy and snapped a magnificent goal that lifted the team giving it an inkling that they were still in the game.
The Senior State side took on AFL Sydney and comfortably accounted for our northern neighbours. Josh Agius, judged by the opposition coach as the best Victorian player, destroyed them with his slashing runs, pinpoint skills and intelligent play.
Well done boys!
