Michael left Xavier College in 1962 but had not played football whilst at school preferring to play Junior Pennant golf at Yarra Yarra.
On leaving Xavier he found that all his mates doing law were playing with the OXFC so he joined  them.
In 1964 he played in the Reserves Premiership team and the following year graduated to the Seniors. Michael played 120 games with the OXFC and will be remembered fondly by his teammates and officials of that era.
At his funeral last Wednesday his great friend and team mate John Kyne delivered the eulogy.
