SOLID WIN
Going into the last leg of our quaddie, we had won 2 and lost 1. After losing to Old Scotch the week before and having a good week on the track, the Under’s were hoping to respond against Old Melbournians. We thought we were playing on the Junction but turned out we played across the road on an oval which resembled the Gervasoni minus the mud slides. The cold and wet conditions advantaged us due to players such as harangozo, amad, pietrzak who can all handle the wet comfortably. Harangozo got it going for us in the first quarter out of the middle and goss(heavily tagged) kicked our first with a brilliant snap. It was pretty scrappy in the first quarter but we went into quarter time leading by 2 goals.
James Woods and Luke Bisset on the wings played very well in the first half and were big contributors to our 5 goal lead at half time. Ambrose, Biddlecombe and Mcgrath were all proving to be tough match ups for their opponents and dominated the first half and just before half-time goss finally got a free kick for being held and slotted the goal to put the Young Ones up by 5 goals.
We kicked away from Old Melbournians in the third quarter with Biddlecombe & Ambrose once again dominating up forward and parker, woods, lees and bisset all running and delivering well. At three quarter time we were up by 50 points and with the game won, the mercy rule was almost applied as the heavens closed in and torrential rain began to fall.
The last quarter was a stop start quarter with about 10 minutes being played on the far wing with just ball up after ball up. Teams found it hard to score but we went on winning by 46 points which was a convincing win in the wet.
