Draw!
The Young Xavs took on a Marcellin team which has been on the up since they were embarrassed in Round 1 against Beaumaris. The feeling was a flat one before the game and the Under's were looking for ways to motivate themselves as they were about to play on the Marcellin main which is somewhat bigger than there fortress at Stradbroke Park.
The Xavs were left to rue missed opportunities all day, none more so than in the first quarter as they squandered 3 set shots directly in front of goal. Marcellin on the other hand, were taking their chances and took a small lead into the quarter time break.
Whilst the Xavs improved in the 2nd quarter, they still couldn't turn around the deficit. This was helped by the injury to Dan H-Harangozo who has been instrumental in the middle of the ground so far this season. Jack O'Sullivan was impressive in his new role in the forward line creating chances for others and also managing to sneak a goal for himself. Elliot Pititto was also very honest in his first game up in the Premier side.
Ben Plant continued his fine form for the 19's but once again couldn't turn around the margin and the Xavs trailed at the last break. With Brendan Goss and Jackson McGrath as the only real options up forward, the Xavs just lacked the firepower which had been evident in recent weeks. The boys had their opportunities but didn't take them and in the end were probably lucky to leave Bulleen with 2 points. The hollow feeling was evident after the game and the players are already looking forward to the grand final rematch which takes place this weekend against De La Salle.
