Beaumaris
Final Score:

A win against Beauy would secure a finals berth for us, so we had plenty to play for.  Again our numbers were stronger by the week, as several blokes try to claim their spot for the business end.

Whilst we had plenty of motivation, the fact that we had thumped our opposition in our previous 2 encounters meant that there was a feeling of things ‘just happening’.  As such, our warm up was poor and we were wasteful with the ball once we got rolling.

Unfortunately, our first quarter stunk of arrogance and we were playing extremely selfish footy.  Lucky our opposition wasn’t much chop, or we would have been down at the first break.

So with a handy lead, our message was to stop being heroes and play the sort of footy that would stand up against the top sides.  Our game lifted in the 2nd quarter, but we still were not firing with all cylinders.  A four goal quarter from M Vlahos iced the game and the likes of Burne, Ralph, Curtis & Pane were providing plenty of drive.

We continued along with a similar sort of tempo for the remainder of the game and in the end registered a pretty standard 95 point win.  Had we of played ‘well’, this could have been 200 points!  Nevertheless, after a couple of big games it was always going to be hard to get up for a contest against the cellar dwellers.  Another encouraging aspect was the successful return of Don at full forward who could have easily kicked 10 had the wind died down a fraction.  To get some solid game time into Skene & Dils will also do us well for the coming weeks.
