RAID THE CANTEEN

Round:
8
Team:
Seniors
Opposition:
Old Scotch
Final Score:
Old Xavs: 18-17-125 Old Scotch: 9-7-61

Dan Rush went bang, bang, bang early in the match with 3 frozen ropes to capitalise on the midfield dominance of Ball, Darvell, Colbert and Purss/Shaw. The second of the twin towers also looked in form as he marked and goaled to give the Xavs the lead at quarter time. 10 goals from the 2 key posts for the day was to be a crucial ingredient for the win.

Allan made a big impact in his senior debut and the back 6 was solid as always with Rogerson, Lynch, Noonan and Biddlecombe all starring in the first half.

Skipper Ball lead from the front with fierce tackling and stoppage work on the highly rated Ferraro. Wynne too on a wing was dominating on his highly touted opponent and Prowse continued his good form on the other.

At half time the spray from Old Scotch coach Banfield could be heard from the change rooms so the lads knew they would need to be ready for a battle in the third. And that they were, with an 8 goal to 3 quarter which shut the gate on Old Scotch and set the scene for a final stanza that would mean a ten goal drubbing or some junk time goals from Old Scotch to make the score more respectable.

The seniors held firm to win the game by 64 points in what was their best performance of the year.

Next week sees us take on OM's at Xavier College in the start of what we hope is an on-going tradition (just as we had hoped the Scotch/Xavier tradition would have been on-going...) of the seniors playing after the school boys match up as the curtain raiser. Get there.
