BLOW AWAY BLUES
The seniors turned up with their A Game at Elsternwick Park on Saturday against a red hot, in form, Uni Blues.
Right from the outset the midfield were dominant as was the Xavs forward line despite the absence of C Smith and Wynne. Shaw and Sapuppo performed well versus Watts and Muhlebach and the midfield responded accordingly with all of Mercuri, Colbert, Prowse, Ball and Darvell racking up possessions against talented opposition.
Rogerson off half back was in great form, as were the rest of his back 6 teammates, including Dynon who skipped down to half forward to kick a telling goal that he has been practising for months at training. The high fives all the way home were a sight to behold and a sight that could have been replicated in the last quarter had he not had a meltdown at 45m in front of the coaches box.
In a stunning all round performance the seniors ran out 10 goal winners in what was their best, most well rounded performance, with 22 solid contributors across the day. The opposition we were against demanded that sort of performance given the form they had been in - and we will be assured of a closer contest next time around if we see them in September as they were some good men down and were due for a quieter day than they had enjoyed over the last few months. They will be back and will be very, very dangerous with a talented and well coached group.
We now turn our attention to Junction Oval in a danger game against a strong OM's next weekend. See you there.
