BLOW AWAY OT's
On a blustery winter’s day with a gale to one end, the Xavs started slowly and poorly against a more determined Old Trinity.
It took youngster Goss to get the Xavs on the board after OT had scored 3 goals 5 and missed some opportunities to really put the Xavs under scoreboard pressure.
After a spray at quarter time to each of the groups, Ball led his players into battle with Shaw, Bye and Colbert prepared to stand up to the challenge early.
Goss again impressed with 3 second quarter goals whilst Colbert and Ball ran riot on ball and Larkins chipped in forward as well.
A closely checked Mercuri was impressive on ball, whilst the back 6 re-arranged themselves and were miserly in defensive and attacking on the rebound.
From the second quarter on, the game was very one-sided and the attitude of the Xavs was back on track with the hardness being displayed by skipper Ball catching on across the side.
Noonan was again dominant down back and Goss finished the game with 5 in an impressive display from a youngster who needed to put some lead in his socks to ensure he didnt blow away at times during the day.
The mid-year break now comes at a good time to take stock, have a rest, get some injured players back on the park and set ourselves for 2 big weeks ahead v St Bedes and Uni Blues in 2 weeks that will tell the tale for the order of the final 4.
