GO DOWN IN CLOSE ONE
The senior side was out played by Collegians on a miserable Saturday at Toorak Park.
A good first quarter performance was not converted onto the scoreboard by the Xavs and 1 goal 6 to 2 goals 2 was always going to come back to bite us - and bite us it did.
With some awful skill errors in defence and a harder and more committed opposition, the xavs were down at half time and needed a lift.
Chris Smith and Noonan tried their best in the last half with goals as did Mercuri, off the ground, but Collegians were too good on the day with far more impacting performances all over the ground in comparison to the lack lustre Xavs.
Biddlecombe was again a rock in defence and Dynon battled valiantly on a day when turnovers meant that lots of dangerous and unaccountable ball was being peppered into our backline.
It was hard to find any other performances worthy of mention, save for Marcus Allan who was a strong contributor in the midfield all day.
We hope to get a chance to redeem ourselves in September against a well drilled Collegians - but in the meantime turn our attention to Old Trinity next week where the lads must make up for a less than satisfactory performance.
