On what was a perfect day for football, the reserves took on the previously undefeated Uni Blues who had proved to be a bit of a nemesis in recent outings.<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

The boys sprung out of the blocks early with Sappupo feeding the likes of S.Skidmore, M Walsh and M Allen who in turn delivered swiftly to Rush who helped himself to  4 first quarters goals. Lloyd and Agius also chimed in for a first quarter goal

The second quarter proved to be similar with the Xavs proving to be lower and harder than the Uni and with the likes of Buckley, Ginnivan, M Skidmore providing great run out of the back half which in turn gave Stean, Pasceri, Lloyd and Rush the ability to put more score board pressure on the varsity.

Like all good teams do, Uni came out in the second half and put some quick goals on the board which saw the xavs lead cut back to as little as 15 points half way through the third term. Chris Larkins was a general down back all day and chimed in with mark after mark to help thwart the Uni’s charge.

At three quarter time the boys knew they had a game on their hands. The Uni again came at the Xavs strongly but to the backlines credit, it again stood tall and helped put paid to an excellent opposition. Over all it was a great team effort by the boys who were able to redeem themselves after the prior week’s narrow loss to St Bedes.
