A great win down at the beach last weekend saw the Old Xavs Reserves record their 15th win for the season and finish the home and away season in third position.  Only percentage separates the top three teams which means we come up against Old Melburnians this Sunday in the 1st Semi Final at Sports Cover Arena.

Wind greeted us and there was no doubt the Tonners weren't going to finish the year off by gifting us a win.  In a frenetic start, the beach boys started well kicking with the wind and had two early majors.  I slight wake up for our boys but we pegged one back into the wind and the momentum seemed to shift once we kicked with the wind.

The on ball division of Sapuppo/Santalucia/Ginnivan/T.Lloyd/Coburn etc changed up a gear and we piled on 5 unanswered goals in quick succession.  The backline worked well through Ryans Pete and Damien and gave plenty of drive out of Brighton's forward line.  At the half, we were working on shutting out Brighton's use of the breeze by possession football which worked well in the third by kicking five majors to one.

The last quarter we asked for a more a huge effort seeing we were three down on the bench and a final next week.  Nine goals to one wasn't a bad response with James Ulbrick showing form up forward kicking four in as many minutes.

In short, a 14 goal win was great and the boys worked hard which is great.  It's been a long year and this weekend we start our assault, determined to avenge last year’s result.  A huge thank you to all the players involved this year who have served the reserves (49 in total) to get us into the finals.  We look forward to the week ahead and again thanks to all involved.
