BIG WINNERS
After our first loss of the season, the Crocs were keen to make amends against Monash Blues out at Monash University. Our motivation was subdued to a certain extent by a 9.30am kick-off in cold and wet conditions. With increased endeavour around the contest and a better tackling performance, we kicked 5.5 to nothing in the first term. In the forward line, debutant Ian Munro showed some very positive signs and was on the scoresheet early. Favaloro was rewarded for his constant pressure and kicked his first of five for the day. This was a sign of things to come as the Crocs dominated the contest and ran out comfortable victors.
The backline was lead by Will Ireland whose uncompromising attack on the ball and the man is an example for his teammates. As always, Nick Silk provided plenty of run from defence and managed to kick 2 for the game. In the middle, Byrne and Browne won plenty of contested footy and Roger and Wilson dominated the ruck. The latter turning back the clock and partying like it was 1999 (when he was just 28 years old)! Marsh, Arnold, Barrett and Jones gave the forwards plenty to work with and the fruits of their labour were gleefully plucked by Quinn, Favaloro, Munro and Co who managed to keep the scoreboard ticking over in unfavourable conditions.
The Crocs know they will face much stiffer opposition in the coming weeks and need to improve as the finals approach. Nevertheless, a 140 point win in conditions like that is a great result and the boys should be happy with their efforts. With just 4 games to go until finals, it is important that all players strive for improvement and remain focused on the team rules. Now is the time to step things up a notch.
