  • Lethlean New Big V Coach

Simon Lethlean has been appointed the VAFA’s Senior Representative Coach following discussions between the Board and Director of Representative Football Nigel Credlin.

Lethlean, who coached the Big V Premier C-Division 4 team this season, is a dual premiership coach with Old Xaverians. In that three year stint at Toorak Park, his teams strung together an impressive record of 47 wins and 13 losses.

A highly-skilled five-time premiership player with Xavs, Lethlean, known widely as "Jars", was a regular Victorian player and captained the senior team in 2001.

  • Preseason Begins

It only feels like 5 minutes ago that we were celebrating premierships at the club, but the time for looking back is gone, and now it's all about season 2012.

Last night was the first preseason session in preparation for another successful year. With over 90 players present the coaches were very pleased with the turnout, and in most cases, the condition that all the boys were in.

A large contingent of Xavier College Year 12 boys were there, with some using the session as break from studying for exams.

New coaches Travis Ruyg and David Landrigan were introduced to the group and senior coach Andy Gowers set the scene for the upcoming assault on the competition.

There were plenty of new faces, plenty of old favourites and a few surprises!

Stay tuned for more preseason updates!

  • Ralph Returns

    83

The master tactician Michael 'Ralph' O'Shaughnessy is back!

In an absolute coup for the OXFC, and after a long absence Ralph returns and will take on a strategic role supporting Andy Gowers and the entire senior coaching panel. The brains behind much of the club's success in the mid to late 90's, Ralph moved to Sydney and into the coaches box as the 'magnet man' for Rocket Eade. More recently he has been involved with preparing Greater Western Sydney for their first season in the AFL.

  • Two Club Greats Return

80 The club is very excited to announce the return of a couple of club legends, Life Member and 6 time senior premiership player, David Landrigan, along with former senior premiership player Travis Ruyg.

David returns after a stint with Old Melburnians and senior coach Andy Gowers is looking forward to putting him to work looking after the backline. The Landrigans have a long association with the OXFC, with David leading the way with his many flags and multiple Big V selections. Sure older brother Tony may have collected more premierships playing in the Crocs, but I'm not sure there were as many youngsters wearing Zooba's jumper number as there were with the number 4 on their backs!
